What I've learned

1:57 PM

(this is our pre-thanksgiving dinner nap)

What I've learned about being a newlywed:
(in the two weeks that I've actually been one)

My cooking skills are better then I thought (except for toast, the one thing I will always burn)

Once you are aware you are going to be helping pay for bills, the more conscious you are about turning lights off, turning the heat off, how many times you do laundry, and how many times you run the dishwasher.
(yes mom, you may say "I told you so")

Having antenna tv does save you money. But it does not save you from yelling at each other (playfully) when you or your spouse walk in front of the antenna and mess up the signal and picture.

You realize how much crap you have and it feels like it takes forever to get it all cleaned up and organized

Your Christmas decoration are 10x less amazing then your parents

No matter whether I am in my parents house or mine. I still have to do dishes (most of the time)

I am apparently a bed sheet/blanket stealer.

Waking up to your best friend and saying good morning to each other is a great and wonderful thing
(well most mornings, some morning I'm awoken by a blaring alarm clock and then I watch the hubby get ready with blurry sleepy eyes and I dont say good morning till I have had coffee)

We are now into the final stretch of wedding preparation. Finalizing decorations, final fitting, final plans. Its getting so close and so real.
I'm ready for the whole planning part and telling people what to do/help with part, to be over with. I'm ready for it to be the BIG day, I'm ready to move into my new house, I'm ready for a new chapter in my life. Can't wait!

I'm so ready to settle down and start this new chapter. I've always been that person that if I found the right guy, I would have no problem settling down right away.
Sure, I have goals, goals most's people would want to do while they are single, but now I will have someone always there to encourage me in my goals and to be there for me and vice versa :)

Anyway, with all this excitement comes busyness which in turn leads to absentness on the blog. But i will be back when I can!

Books for Fall

9:16 AM

In between chasing around a little toddler for work and planning a wedding, I try to find some time to read. It's usually during little ones nap time or bed time if I'm not finishing up some wedding plans.
Here is my list of reads for this wonderful fall season!

Love Me by Rachel Shukert
I adored the first book "Star Struck" and I can't wait to get a chance to read this one! If you love a cutesy fiction read. This is for you!

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
Next month I am going to re-reading Catching Fire before the movie comes out. It's probably my favorite of the 3 books. I feel like the story is much more involved and the characters really grow. I'm looking foward to re-reading this one, you should too!

Legend by Marie Lu
I'm working on this book right now. I've heard nothing but good things about it. Its just taking me a while to get into.  Let me know if you have read it! I could use some encouragement to continue lol.

Allegiant (Divergent, #3)
Allegiant by Veronica Roth
I cannot contain my excitement for this book AND the movie, Divergent, comes out next year. It just keeps getting better!

Let's Chat

3:31 PM

Let's have a little chat shall we readers?? It's been quiet a while since we have had one.

Life has been non-stop lately. I was whisked away 2 weekends ago to a surprise trip up north to my roots. The trip was not so much a surprise but the bridal shower that awaited me was. I felt so blessed and beyond amazed that my bestest childhood friend took the time to plan a bridal shower for me along side my grandma and aunt. It will probably be one of my favorite moments/memories from that trip and probably from my time as an engaged women.

Speaking of wedding goodness. The big day is less then 2 months away. Eeep! So close. Yet so far. lol

So, on my trip up north, I decided that I would start rereading Divergent. So much better the second time around folks. I've taken a whole week to read it because I don't want it to be over and I don't want to be reminded the movie is so far away. Luckily I have Catching Fire to look forward to.
Ok. Book Nerd talk is over.

Thanks for reading readers. I will try harder to make more interesting post. I need to find some time to cook/bake or go on an adventure or something lol.

Dark Halo - Book Review

1:30 PM

Book Review :

Dark Halo
Shannon Dittemore

One halo brought sight to Brielle. Another offers sweet relief from what she sees.

Brielle can't help but see the Celestial realm. Even without the halo, it's everywhere she looks. And with the heavens above Stratus ravaged by war, Brielle wishes for another gift, any gift. Because Jake is gone. The only boy she's ever loved has been taken by the demon, Damien--and she knows if she ever wants to see him again, she must fight.

But fighting is so hard when everything you see makes you afraid.

When she receives instructions from the Throne Room leading her to Jake, she unknowingly walks into a diabolical and heartbreaking trap. Then the Prince of Darkness himself offers Brielle a halo of his own making. With the dark halo, she won't have to see the fear and brokenness that surround her. She'll be free of that unbearable burden. And it comes with a promise: the guarantee of a life with Jake.

When confusing details about Jake's past emerge, and the battle above reaches a fever pitch, Brielle is forced to make a choice. Will she choose the dark halo and the ignorance that comes with it, or will she choose to live with her eyes wide open and trust the Creator's design--even if it means a future without Jake?

My Thoughts:
As you know, I adore this trilogy. It's great christian YA fiction that doesn't fit the norm. Shannon does an amazing job focusing on the characters, their development, and the story, while also implementing Christian ideal without letting it over take the story. I am so sad to see this series come to an end, but its a good end and I can't wait to see if Shannon Dittemore has anymore awesome books up her sleeve.

just me

A year

12:00 AM

 photo IMG_6154crop_zpsbc05df41.jpg

One year ago today. I met Steve.

Yup, it has only been 1 year. Trust me, it seems so much longer.

People ask me all the time if it was "love at first sight?" when I walked into the sanctuary at our local college/young adults ministry and saw this tall blond haired guy sitting in the front row during worship practice.
Steve has told me "yes". Well in his words..... "I thought you were hot" ...
I on the other hand will be honest and say 'not really".
Its not that I didnt find him cute or anything like that. I thought he was very cute.. and tall.. and kind of loud. But up till that point, I had never met Steve before. Ever. In my entire life. All I knew was we had a mutual friend at the college ministry and he was "just visiting". I don't remember thinking "Hey! its my future husband".

I will be honest though. I get a little teary thinking about how that one normal day.. was the start of something truly new and amazing.

I apparently made a really good impression. Fast forward a month later we started talking on facebook, which in turn lead to seeing each other again after a month from first meeting, then we started dating, and then 3 months later we were engaged, and in less then 2 months we will be married.

That may seem like a little fast for some people. I have definitely been told that.
But, when God brings that person into your life, and things go smoothly, and you can't imagine any reason why you shouldn't be together, and that person answers all the prayers you have prayed for for your future mate, it doesn't seem fast. It seems right.

Thanks for visiting that day. Thanks for thinking I was hot. Thanks for stalking me on facebook and instagram for a month to a point I had to message you and call you a stalker. Thanks for bringing me chick-fil-a on the day we decided to date, without me asking you too, confirming the fact that I definitely wanted to date you.
Thanks for always telling me you are the luckiest guy in the world. I am definitely the luckiest girl.
Thank you for being so patience and caring when I need it most.
Thanks for loving my family and wanting to be apart of it.
Thank you for serving our country. Even though I didn't know you during your deployment, I am nevertheless proud of you for doing what you did and your sacrifice.

And finally, thank you for choosing me. You could have chosen whoever you wanted and you chose this anxiety filled, accident prone, easily stressed clutz. God help you ;)

'When I first saw you, I fell in love.

And you smiled because you knew."

Its that time of year again. Time to wear Orange and Blue on Saturdays.
Go Gators.

This year is kind of exciting too because my towns local private college has a football team again after 57 years. So it's super cool to say "I live in a college football town".
Even though it is nothing compared to the big public colleges, its still something :)

It is also getting super close to "the BIG DAY".
I can't believe there is still so much to do!
It is exciting nevertheless.

I love these shoes. I'm all for comfort (which these shoes are all about). And they add a POP of color too!
Being a nanny comfy shoes are important. You have to be ready (and have shoes that are ready) to run after the kiddo.

I hope you'all are doing well, blogy friends. Working keeps me busy but I find time during nap time to check in on the blog world. And now that school has started I have to find time for my one little online class. Oh the joys of being a grown up. Fun fun fun.

OH and did you guys see the new Divergent trailer!??!! Steve's even excited about it and he hasnt even read the book ;)

general tso's

R4U- GF General Tso

2:49 PM

Recipe 4 You:

Gluten Free General Tso's
Gluten Free General Tso
A couple weeks ago I made SteveO one of his FAVORITE dishes. General Tso's. Its his favorite and I made it in celebration of his new job!
However, I made it Gluten Free (gotta get my future hubby used to eating GF :) ).
You can use corn starch to fry the chicken (I do that for my sweet and sour chicken sometimes) but if you want to make it even more healthy, only use the corn starch for the sauce.

Gluten Free General Tso

2 Tbs sesame oil
2 green onions, sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
 1 tsp red pepper flakes
1 lb boneless skinless chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
3/4 cup chicken broth
2 Tbs corn starch
2 Tbs sugar
2 Tbs Bragg’s amino acids
2 Tbs rice wine vinegar
1/2 tsp ground ginger

Heat oil over medium heat in a wok or large frying pan. Add green onions, garlic, red pepper & chicken. Cook 5 minutes. While chicken is cooking, whisk together rest of ingredients. Add sauce to pan & heat until sauce is thickened & chicken is cooked through.
Serve over rice (i used Jasmine Rice)

SteveO said it was the best General Tso's he's ever had.
Mission Accomplished.

This past week was nothing short of crazy. I went from having no job, to a job, and then getting offered a better job and having to quit the first job after one day.

So what is my new job you ask?
I am a nanny again. Full time. Which is great and such a blessing. I'm taking just an online class this semester so I can focus on my wedding and future marriage :) and also watching an adorable 1.5 year old.
I am going to keep blogging as much as I can. I love doing it even though I get busy and can't post as much as I would like.

So stayed tuned for my nanny adventures/outfits. I attempted to capture my outfit this morning but....my room was a mess so I had to settle for a dirty mirror shot :P SORRY

8:00 AM

A nice cup of coffee. I am a coffee connoisseur. I like my coffee and coffee mugs. I like my coffee warm, in a fun mug, with lots of creamer. In the morning I like it regular, at night I like it decaf :)

 photo IMG_7388_zpsca05e27f.jpg

Coupons. OK.. I may not be obsessive with them but I like using them. Ask Steve, I HATE going shoping with out my coupons. If I dont have them with me when we enter Target or Publix, I am besides myself. Steve doesn't complain though. I'm saving money so that's all that matters :P

If I had $60 these would be on their precious way to my house.
Topanga | Blowfish Shoes | $69

Razmitten | Blowfish Shoes | $60

Sorry this is so short. Its been quiet a week! Can't wait to catch up on some blog reading though!

best friend

Time for..

3:43 PM

Random thoughts with Samantha:

My days have been filled to the brim. I'm always doing something. If I'm home, i'm narrowing down wedding plans and other things. If I'm not home I'm out with friends. I dont mind the busyness. The wedding plans can get a little overwhelming. Sometimes November seems far away and other times it seems like it's tomorrow. Its defiantly a fun but stressful experience to say the least

Having support from friends and family is a great thing to have during this time. I was never that girl with 500 friends in High School. I was (and still am a little) the introverted girl.
And during this crazy time in my life I am really thankful for the few friends I do have instead of the hundreds I wished for in High School.
I have one friend, that is always there to get lunch and catch up and even though we don't spend everyday together, we still are as close as we can be.

I have my "brothers" who, by blood, are really not my brothers, but they live up to their names. They pick on me, drive me crazy sometimes, but also look out for me and make me laugh when I need it.
Then I have the far away friend who lives thousands of miles away, but is always there for me, write's me a book of an email, and always has my back. We've been besties for 16 years.
And of course I'm marring my best friend. So. Nough said.

I guess what this random post is really about is how looking back, to the wonderful HS days when I would cry because I didnt have a tons of friends who would included me in everything, that I came out ok and how I wish I realized then what I know now is that less friends, even just one close friend. Is better then hundreds.

When I think...

.... That he cant get any cuter...
He does this.
 photo IMG_7384_zps50405338.jpg

I usually put pillows and things of that nature on my futon to KEEP him from getting up on it.
He obviously just see's it as more pillows for his own comfort.
(and I know I'm probably pretty dumb for thinking PILLOWS would keep him from laying on the futon)

6 questions

3:13 PM

 photo IMG_7160_zpsbfcb0705.jpg

(BTW you can never go wrong with a picture of Jaxson)

1.// What is one of your silly quirks? Or something silly that you get excited about.
If you asked Steve this question about me, he would probably give you more answers then I am going to give. lol. Most of the time I don't notice my quirks, one I do notice though is how excited I get for anything "Star Wars'. So, I guess you could call it a "nerdy quirk"

2.// Favorite movie, song, or tv show?
Its hard to narrow down a favorite movie or song because it all depends on my mood. But my favorite TV show right now that I can watch over and over and over is New Girl. I can watch the same episode 5x and its still just as funny as the first.
OH and in "awesome Netflix finds", if you like goofy humor...watch THE IT CROWD...This show is so witty and funny. Definitely a must watch

3.// What's your favorite beauty secret or product?
Brown Sugar, sea salt, a little bit of lemon juice and olive oil. Its a great scrub for your face. I always feel so clean after using it.

4.// What's a current dream that you are hoping to achieve?
I cant wait to finish my A.A degree, I'm having to put it off because of the wedding (which is worth it btw) but I cant wait to finish it in the spring and hopefully get in a communications/media program at the school.

9.// What's the coolest thing you've made? (food, craft, anything)
The last thing I made was dinner for Steve and I and I used this recipe. SO good. But i think if you put cheese on anything its good.
OH but you know what I want to make???
Gluten Free Cherry Hand Pies

Pillsbury has new GF dough that you can use to make this.
I want some. Hook a girl up Pillsbury??

12.// What's your favorite part about marriage? Or what have you learned since becoming married?
Well I'm not married yet (soon, very soon).. but I can tell you what I'm LOOKING FORWARD to. Even though he lives right around the corner. I'm going to agree with Ilene, I'm looking forward to just getting to say goodnight to him, next to him, in person and waking up next to him (with him hopefully bringing me a cup of coffee).

If you want to play/participate in this as well! Feel free! I took part in it after seeing Ilene's post :) You just need to answer 6 of the 12 questions below.

1.// What is one of your silly quirks? Or something silly that you get excited about.
2.// Favorite movie, song, or tv show?
3.// Any funny stories to share that has happened recently?
4.// Tell us something we don't know about you.
5.// What's your favorite beauty secret or product?
6.// What's your favorite or go-to outfit? (pics please)
7.// What's a personal trial you had to overcome?
8.// What's a current dream that you are hoping to achieve?
9.// What's the coolest thing you've made? (food, craft, anything)
10.// Who or what inspires you?
11.// Share one of your favorite pics. Tell us why it's your favorite
12.// What's your favorite part about marriage? Or what have you learned since becoming married?

48 hours with no internet led me to lots and lot of reading.
(stupid lightening storm)
Which in my case isn't a disappointment.
I'm what you call and Librocubicularist.
So, I spent most of the 48hours in bed reading. Or on the couch. Or on the futon.
But now the internet is back and I'm catching up on emails and social media amazingness.
But I'm still going to be a Librocubicularist and keep up on my reading.

Anomaly:Book Review

Book Review:

Anomaly by Krista Mcgee

About Anomaly: Thalli has fifteen minutes and twenty-three seconds left to live. The toxic gas that will complete her annihilation is invading her bloodstream. But she is not afraid.

Decades before Thalli's birth, the world ended in a nuclear war. But life went on deep underground, thanks to a handful of scientists known as The Ten. Since then, they have genetically engineered humans to be free from emotions in the hopes that war won't threaten their lives again.

But Thalli was born with the ability to feel emotions and a sense of curiosity she can barely contain. She has survived so far thanks to her ability to hide those differences. But Thalli's secret is discovered when she is overwhelmed by the emotion in an ancient piece of music.

She is quickly scheduled for annihilation, but her childhood friend, Berk, convinces The Ten to postpone her death and study her instead. While in the scientists' Pod, Thalli and Berk form a dangerous alliance, one strictly forbidden by the constant surveillance in the pods.

As her life ticks away, she hears rumors of someone called the Designer---someone even more powerful than The Ten. What's more, the parts of her that have always been an anomaly could in fact be part of a much larger plan. And the parts of her that she has always guarded could be the answer she's been looking for all along.

Thalli must sort out what to believe and who she can trust, before her time runs out . . .

My Review:
I am so amazed by some of the new YA christian fiction that has been coming out. First with the Angles Eye's trilogy by Shannon Dittemore and now with Anomaly by Mrs.Mcgee
To be honest, it took me a while to get into REALLY reading this book. Not because it was boring. It was FAR from boring. But from my own laziness. However, when I did finally get into it, I couldn't put it down.
One of my favorite things about this book was how Krista worked in God and different aspects of faith. There we times when it was blatantly obvious they were talking about God but there were also moments where I was trying to figure out if the situation or people or speech was a metaphor for different faith aspects. It made you really think and pay attention to what was going on.
Kind of hard to explain in words. You just need to read it so you can see for yourself.
The relationship between Thalli and Berk is so sweet and innocent and I don't want to give to much away but I never wanted to slap either of them so that is always a good sign ;)

PLEASE do yourself a favor and pick up this up and add it to your summer reading list!

I was on the wonderful website that is pinterest the other day when I found this site.

I literally spent all morning going through and finding what I could afford.
My favorite show to look at is "New Girl". I know I've been watching the show and have mentally said
  "I want those pj's/dress/top/shoes."
I want ALL THE THINGS that is Jessica Day's wardrobe.

Have fun my friends. And you are welcome.

I'm DIYing a lot of our wedding, from the invitations, to the programs, to some of the decorations,
you name it, I'm PROBABLY making it myself.
After looking at font after font after font, for our wedding programs, I actually started to enjoy it. Something about writing "font" into the search box of my pinterest is exciting and fun!
(yes I know it sounds cheesy)
Nothing says FUN like spending all afternoon looking/downloading/ and trying out new fonts!
Above are some of my favorites!
A majority of these can be found on Dafont.com

LC's new photos for here Kohls line. I mean, I like just about anything related to LC, but some of her new clothes at kohls have me drooling and wishing I wasn't poor.

Anomaly by Krista McGee. I can't wait to review this for you all. There are very few christian YA novels that are futuristic, that are this good. I don't want to give anything away but you can check out the synopsis here

I finished Parks and Rec's on Netflix the other day. Now I am in desperate need of season 5. I've also been catching up on some So You Think You Can Dance. Some of these dancers blow me away. Makes me wanna dance more constantly again.

I cleaned like a crazy person the other day. 4 hours straight. It was much needed. I got rid of stuff and dusted and vacuumed. I was on a roll. It also helped I had the 1st season of New Girl playing the entire time. A little Jessica Day and Nick Miller kept me motivated.

SO much wedding planning/creating going on. I've been working on the program and little things and decorations. So much and only 4months left! The list is long but I'm ready.

Clockwork Princess

12:00 PM

Book Review:

A net of shadows begins to tighten around the Shadowhunters of the London Institute. Mortmain plans to use his Infernal Devices, an army of pitiless automatons, to destroy the Shadowhunters. He needs only one last item to complete his plan: he needs Tessa Gray.

Charlotte Branwell, head of the London Institute, is desperate to find Mortmain before he strikes. But when Mortmain abducts Tessa, the boys who lay equal claim to her heart, Jem and Will, will do anything to save her. For though Tessa and Jem are now engaged, Will is as much in love with her as ever.

As those who love Tessa rally to rescue her from Mortmain’s clutches, Tessa realizes that the only person who can save her is herself. But can a single girl, even one who can command the power of angels, face down an entire army?

My Review:
So. This book came out 2 months ago and I'm just now getting to writing a review on it. Epic fail on my part.
Even so, this finale in TID (The infernal devices), is nothing short of amazing. I am a fan of the TMI and the TID series by Cassandra Clare. How she can write so many stories with so many characters and keep it interesting is beyond me. It sometimes blows my mind.
I do however, prefer TID sliiiiggghhhtly more then TMI. The time period its set in, the plot is much more interesting and sometimes less complicated, some of the side characters are 10x more interesting and entertaining and the main characters don't make me roll my eyes... too much..
Clockwork Princess, how I wish it wasn't the end,  is the end of the great TID series. Its a story I finished withing 2 days and one you should consider reading this summer.
I say consider but I REALLLLLYYY consider you read it.

Twinkies Cupcakes - R4U

12:00 AM

Yes. I know. Samantha hasn't bloged for a while. Maybe all she needed was a little week to recuperate and try to get some creativeness going on in her brain.

Having this view for an entire day helped too.

 photo IMG_7346_zps3b9e1314.jpg

Steve specifically asked for Twinkie Cupcakes for his birthday.
So being the awesome fiance' that I am. I made them for him and his friends, even though I was unable to eat, let alone taste them (they were not gluten free).
 photo IMG_7348_zps1992970e.jpg

But, I was told they were delish, so now I am going to share the recipe with you.

Recipe 4 You!

Twinkie Cupcakes:
Blogger Note: I didnt make/use frosting for the top of the cupcakes. I didn't really have time in between making them and Steve's surprise party that I made them for.
 photo IMG_7337_zpsb8f1032c.jpg

1 box yellow cake mix, plus ingredients on back of box
1 small box sugar free/fat free instant French vanilla pudding mix
1 jar (7 oz) marshmallow fluff
1/2 cup butter
1/3 cup powdered sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp salt
2 teaspoons very hot water
Marshmallow Buttercream (click here for recipe)
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line two muffin tins with about 20 paper liners. Set aside.
2. Prepare cake mix according to package directions, stirring the box of pudding mix into the cake batter to blend. Portion batter evenly among muffin cups, about 2/3 full,
 photo IMG_7335_zps33a9161d.jpg

and bake for approx. 15-18 mins or until golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool completely, the core out the cupcake’s middles with a sharp, small paring knife, careful not to cut through the entire cupcake. Eat or discard centers.
 photo IMG_7339_zps99d1b8ac.jpg

3. First, dissolve the salt into the hot water and allow to cool. In the bowl of a stand mixer, beat together the marshmallow cream, butter, powdered sugar and vanilla extract until fluffy. Beat in the salt water. Mixture should be light but not as stiff as frosting.

 photo IMG_7338_zps182cf56f.jpg

~Going through all my decoration ideas for my wedding. It is definitely not easy, trying to remember all my ideas. Thank the Lord for pinterest.

~Loving Valspar virtual painter. This has saved us from going through like 5 thousand sample colors while we are fixing up "our" future house.

~Very thankful for this man. I love him more and more everyday.

~Watching Parks And Recreation. I've gotten hooked on this show. It definitely gets funnier after season 1. Thank you netflix for letting me binge watch Parks and Rec.

This weekend was truly nothing short of amazing. It went by so fast and I enjoyed it so much. I still keep thinking about it.

Saturday was my 20th birthday.

Yes. I am not technically a "teenager" any more.

First off on my amazing day, I was woken up by my amazing man who had a cup of Dunkin Donuts coffee in hand.
Most of my day was a surprise. I had no idea what was being planned except chick-fil-a for lunch, and a wedding later on in the evening.

My first surprise/birthday gift was that we were going horseback riding!
I used to ride and I love my horses. I haven't been on a horse 3 years but I was so excited that I got to get back in the saddle again. (cue cheesy rock song)
Its amazing how natural some stuff comes back to you. I had no trouble ridding my horse on the trail.
(Steve on the other hand.... well we just wont go there.. but it made for a very fun/funny horse back ride)

Then afterwards we of course went to Chick-Fil-A for lunch. My favorite place of all.

Later on in the evening after some nice down time at the house we went to our friends wedding.
It was beautiful. Their wedding was like my pinterest bored and then some. So, not only was it beautiful but it was exciting because it got me excited for my own wedding in 5 months!
(not that I wasn't excited already lol)

One of my favorite things about their wedding that I want to gush about, was the photobooth. I've heard of people doing these at their wedding but I didn't realize how fun it was till I actually tried it myself.
If i get the chance. We are working one into my reception.
BTW you can see a little snip of us having fun on PhotoBoothWasted's Instagram
