July 2012 - Simply Samantha

Where have I been

12:00 AM

I know I've been a little MIA lately. But here is a quick little low-down to what I've been up too.

~Spent my last day ( till October :) ) with my best friend Hiccup who has now left for college :( I miss him like crazy and he's only been gone 3 days.

~Every time I buy stuff for my room on my own I feel like such a grown up. I've dubbed my room my "studio apartment" because
1. It is the size of a studio apartment.
2. I spend a majority of my time up there, I have my own (borrowed) tv with netflix, a coffee maker, and a soon to be min fridge :) Everything I need :D

~Dyed a stip of my hair blond with the bestie, J :) What do you think??
the photo doesn't do it justice by the way.

Like I said just a little overview of what's going on.
I'm actually going to be busier than normal this week and I'll have very limited internet access. So I'm going to have to be MIA some more from the blog world :( However, I'm always updating my twitter so be sure to follow me there!
Next week I have a little vaca so I'm looking forward to working on my blogging skilz some more than :)

Till next time my friends!

My buddy

12:00 AM

SO I'm behind the sound booth in our kidz church room, watching the kids play musical chairs at the end of another successful Tuesday night service.

I look to my right and what do I see.
A little head peeking her way around the corner of the sound booth.

(let it be known that my heart melts when any kid calls me samanfa)
"I want mommy"
"yes, I know"
(she's going through the "I want mommy so I can get sympathy" phase)
"I want mommy"
"Do you want to sit back here with me"

and she kindly takes her seat next to me.

She's got me wrapped around her finger the little booger :P

Sam's Thoughts

12:00 AM

Its time for another round of

"Samantha's random thoughts!"

  • So you know that moment?? When you are on pinterest and you see something like this

And you say

"I want to make that!!!"

Then you waltz into your kitchen, and you have everything to make it, then your like
"Nah, I don't feel like it"

I hate that feeling, cause I just wish I could keep that desire to cook all the time. Cause I want to be that girl that makes amazing meals for her man :)
Like my momma, who made THE BEST NONMEAT burgers the other night! Yumm!!! (pictures to come!)

  • My friend and I are crazy. In a good way. We are already planning (or at least trying to) on attending Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween party and we are already looking up outfits via Disney Bound for costume ideas. What do you think!???!!??

  • I had to drop off some paperwork at school the other day and it felt SO weird being back on campus. Its been almost 3 months since I've been on the campus and it just felt so weird and deja vuish.

  • Batman was, ok. I mean, Don't get me wrong I didn't think it was HORRIBLE. But it could have been better and less.... Long.....I do have to say the end.. SPOILER ALERT! - JGL as Robin! Oh my freaking Goodness!

  • How cool are these movie posters!???! I want to print some on card stock and frame them in my room -

  • Sam Claflin is Finnick. Um. Very. Very. Big. YES!

  • And can we please talk about the last picture/quote from THG. I mean. Heart.BROKEN. I'm gonna cry when he says this in the movie :(

Can we talk about

12:00 AM

How funny and amazing Robert Downey Jr is??

I mean. This is just great!

He IS Tony Stark.

Tales of the Not Forgotten

10:00 PM

Book Review

Tales of the Not Forgotten
Beth Guckenberger

About the book

Follow these real-life stories as they take you on a journey to faraway lands and unknown faces. Travel through their challenges and see the hand of the great Storyweaver writing endings you’d never imagine!

Joel dares to ask for what he can’t have. Seraphina sacrifices what she can’t afford to give. Ibrahim looks for an answer buried out of reach. Christiana, saved by a mission, searches for her own.

These are the tales of the ones the world doesn’t see . . . the tales of the not forgotten.
In this collection of four real-life stories written for preteens, a compelling storyteller paints a picture of God’s dynamic movement in four foreign cultures, inspiring children to trust that God is weaving a story in their lives as well.

This resource will shrink the macro picture down to approachable, individual stories of real children and teach about fundamental survival issues. The stories address some of the challenging questions that kids have and weave God's promises to orphans into each one.

The Tales of the Not Forgotten Leader’s Guide is a 6-session kids' missions resource (sold separately) that walks adults through an easy-to-follow guide for making the abstract real and for designing an action plan to help others.

Preteens will be challenged to answer the questions:
How do I pray? What can I give? Where can I go? Who will I serve?

My Review.
To be honest,I've been so busy lately I haven't really had time to really sit down and read this diligently. But I did get to read a few chapters a couple days ago and what I did read was amazing. Such a greats story's that are written so well. This book is a quick read but a good one and definitely one to check out!

What I'll do..

12:00 AM

For a free meal at Chick-Fil-A

Yup. I dressed up like a cow for free food.

It started out like this

Me: "J, you know is Cow appreciation day friday"

J: "Yea."

Me: "Wanna dress up like a cow and get a free meal at chick-fil-a

J: "Sure"

Me: "Cool, I'll come over after work"

Just a typical conversation between friends.

So Friday we did just that. Dressed up like cows (nerdy cows at that) and took a car ride to get some yummy delisiouness.

Who wouldn't dress up like a cow for free chick fil a???
You only live once ;)

12:09 PM

Remember, like 2 months ago when I made a vlog and I was all like.

"I'm gonna blog more this summer".

Me too..

Lets just say this summer turned out to be busier than expected.
When I'm not running the "little sis" around to the beach or shopping, or a friend house, I'm with friends, hanging out, watching movies. Then when I am at home I'm extreamly exhausted and just have enough energy to sit on my butt and watch Netflix and relax.

SO. Blogging (as much as I LOVE IT) hasn't been my first priority lately, sadly :(

When I do find time. Like today. I try to do as much catching up as I can! So don't worry. I'm not going anywhere!! :)

just me

12:00 AM

Every year. On a few blessed days can I wake up and say.

"It's Raceday!"

Before you read any farther, reader. You should know, I was born and raised a NASCAR fan.
SO don't judge.
I'm not a crazy fan. I enjoy the sport and respect it.
If you don't.
Well, you can leave my blog.
(please and thank you :))

Anywhozles I headed out with my Daddy'O to the race track Friday.
THE race track that is.
Daytona Speedway.
Yes sir!

I wore the normal summer race track attire of course.

Hair Up : Shorts : Tank Top: Flip Flops.

We had some amazing seats this year. Sprint Tower-Just to the right of the start/finish line.
Super nice! I don't think we've ever had better seats before.
AND we took the elevator this time to get to them!
YAY no "stairs from hell!"

The race was pretty uneventful for a good 50/60 laps. Except for the drunk redneck sitting behind my friend screaming and wohooing at the most random times. At one point she even asked if i had any ducktape.
NASCAR races are really interesting experiences to say the least.

And of course stupid me didn't tape the final GWC. Stupid. Because this is what happened.

Survive my little "nascar fan moment" here on the blog??

Hope you guys had a great weekend! Looking forward to catching up on your blogs soon!

Lets talk about

11:15 AM

1. The fact that I am horrible at remembering to take pictures.
For example. The ONLY photo I took ALL of the 4th of July was of my dog.
Its not like I did anything exciting on the 4th. I did nothing with some good friends which is how I wanted to spend my 4th anyway :)

2. How AMAZING "The Amazing Spiderman" was.
I was a fan of the originals they made over 10 years ago but this one blow all 3 of those out of the water!
And thats all I'm going to say. Cause you just need to go see it to see how AMAZING it is.

Weekend WrapUP

10:58 AM

(from left to right)
  • Beach day!
  • Walmart run where I also picked up these awesome sunglasses holder!
  • Realized how fast my BFF and I have grown up
  • Helped all the kiddies sing their VBS songs in front of the church.

It was a pretty chill weekend nevertheless.

A lot of just relaxing which I needed after the CRAZY week I had!

Now to figure out what I'm doing for the 4th :o
