Broken Wings - Book Review

Book Review :

Broken Wings

By Shannon Dittemore
Published by Thomas Nelson

Angels with wings of blade. Demons with renewed sight. And a girl who has never been more broken.
Brielle has begun to see the world as it really is, a place where angels intermingle with humans. But just when she thinks she’s got things under control, the life she’s pieced together begins to crumble.
Her boyfriend, Jake, is keeping something from her. Something important.
And her overprotective father has turned downright hostile toward Jake. Brielle fears she’ll have to choose between the man who’s always loved her and the one who’s captured her heart.
Then she unearths the truth about her mother’s death and the nightmare starts. Brielle begins seeing visions of mysterious and horrible things.
What she doesn’t know is that she’s been targeted. The Prince of Darkness himself has heard of the boy with healing in his hands and of the girl who saw through the Terrestrial veil. When he pulls the demon Damien from the fiery chasm and sends him back to Earth with new eyes, the stage is set for the ultimate battle of good versus evil.
Brielle has no choice. She must master the weapons she’s been given. She must fight.
But can she fly with broken wings?

My Review -
If you are like me, you may not be too found of christian fiction. I am a christian, however, my problem with christian fiction is sometimes, the biblical references take over take over the story.
But, this is why i love Shannon Dittemore. She incorporates the bible ,but in such a away that the story is not lost.
Broken Wing's is second book in her "Angel eyes" trilogy and it didn't disappoint. So much action and adventure, and Jake ;)
While reading this book, i realized why I enjoy it so much. And its cause I am A LOT like Brielle, in how i/she handles things, we both dance, and we both care so much about other people. Ive never related so much to a character like I do Brielle.
Do NOT pass up reading the Broken Wings OR "Angel Eyes" trilogy. You will not be disappointed!

Don't worry poor little blog, i haven't been ignoring you for a stupid reason.

After this weekend of epic sickness proportion, I really wasn't in the mood to do anything.
(that included my 3 tests I had a school within two days)
It even got to a point this weekend where all I COULD do was lie in bed and cry cause my body had reached a new low.

Even with the sickness and the head cold that followed. I managed to make it through.
(said in the most sarcastic voice ever)

But being sick wasn't the only thing keeping me busy.
You see, once you get engaged, there is this thing called a "wedding" that you have to start preparing for. And even though the wedding is far off away, you still have to plan a crap load of stuff in advance so nothing is last minuet.
Which I don't mind. I'd rather be prepared early then late.
So, most of my free time is then devoted to doing what "wedding preparation" i have chosen to get done that day, and then of course, school comes along as well.

I DON'T want to forget my little blog though! I want to be able to use this to document my engagement somewhat. From the stressful days to the happy days.

So, my readers, be prepare for wedding preparation updates and stories. For there will be plenty.

I really have no idea how I have not posted this picture yet.
We knew Steve was the guy for me when Jaxson started showing interest in him right away.

(Jaxson is "iffy" when it comes to guys, so the fact he warmed right up to Steve was a good sign)

Jaxson and Steve have a great relationship. Steve gives him food, Jaxson in turn doesn't bark at him when he walks in the door.
They have a model "dog+man" friendship going on.
My favorite moment is when I'm laying/sleeping in bed and Steve comes in to wake me up and Jaxson attempts to jump on the bed first before Steve.
Makes me giggle every time.
Its like Jaxson's saying "I was the man in her life before you, so I will wake her up first!"

Another perk to their friendship. I get to capture moments like this. Sweet adorable moments.

In I Still Believe, Jeremy shares, with unflinching candor and emotion, the extraordinary story behind his award-winning lyrics–from his impoverished childhood, rebellious teenage years, and spiritual awakening at Bible College, to the tragic loss of his first wife, Melissa, to cancer and the heart-wrenching spiritual journey that followed–a journey that reignited Jeremy’s faith, inspired some of his most beloved songs, and paved the way for a second chance at love with his second wife, Adrienne.

This memoir is a must-read for Jeremy Camp fans everywhere, and an inspiring, encouraging read for anyone who has ever experienced loss.

My Review -
I'm not big on biographies, but I REALLY enjoyed this book. I myself, am a Jeremy Camp fan, and this book is a great way to know the man behind the music. It's written beautifully and its a great quick and easy read!

How he..

12:00 AM

I told you I'd blog about how he proposed. I don't break promises :)

How it happened.

First off.
Let me tell you that I am REALLY hard to surprise. If something is not right or not normal, I know something's up.
You need to catch me off guard to surprise me.
And that's what he did.

FridayFebruary 1st,  him and I, already had plans for that afternoon, chick-fil-a and a movie (our favorite type of activities). He texted me round 9:30am and told me he was one his way so I knew I had about 30min before he would be at my house. SO, I laid in bed, did some work on the computer, and then curled back into my sleeping position so he could come up and wake me up.
He got to the house, came up stairs and woke me up in the sweet way he always does.

(SIDENOTE: i am NOT a morning person.
It takes a good hour before im fully awake and
if you dont wake me up the right way i get cranky)

He laid in bed next to me held my hand and said
"i should put a ring on this finger"
and i just giggled.
(im not fully aware of what is going on in the morning after waking up
and i didn't even piece 2 and 2 together till later)
Then he said
Him: "I have a funny story to tell you"
Me:"Does it involve people"
Him:"Kind of"
Then as I adjusted myself in my bed for the story, he pulled out the ring and held it in front of my face.

And i cried.
Big old sappy tears.
I put my hands over my face and cried.
Him: "Aww baby"
Me: "im just so happpppy"

Then through my fingers i looked at him with teary eyes and he said those beautiful 4 words.
"Will you marry me"

and through my hands that were still over my mouth/face I said
"yes!"
and we hugged and i cried more and he put this little beauty on my finger.
Which fit perfectly, he did a great job.

It was perfect. I was totally surprised and caught off guard. He couldn't have done it any other way.
